Underwater restaurant ~
tuesday 14th may 2019
You heard it right ~ Under is Europe's first underwater restaurant and it definitely looks as amazing as it sounds! The space plunges from the shoreline of remote village of Båly, Norway and is designed by Snøhetta to resemble a sunken periscope. The 495-square-metre restaurant offers an un-missable view of marine life for 40 guests and impressively will also be used as a marine research centre.
Under has been designed to be as simple as possible, taking form in a concrete tube that is 34 metres in length. One of the most impressive obstacles Snøhetta has over come in our eyes is the incredible way the space does not feel un-safe or claustrophobic. Through the use of colour, design and lighting, the designers have created a restaurant that defies normality whilst allowing you to embrace and enjoy nature in a cosy and comfortable environment.
