We celebrated International Museum Day ~
The 18th of May celebrated International Museum Day which encouraged us to reflect on the TEK bucket list we've been building up for as long as we can remember and all of the incredible museums we've been adding to it. There are few places more inspirational and educational than museums ~ we learn, we immerse ourselves and we embrace. We cherry picked some of our very favourites to share with you...
We've attended Clerkenwell Design Week 2019 ~
Did you know Clerkenwell is home to more creative businesses and architects per square mile than anywhere else on the planet? Making it truly one of the most important design hubs in the world. The design festival is a three day celebration of a rich and diverse community, showcaings leading UK and international brands and companies. presented in a series of incredible showroom events, exhibitions and show stopping installations that take place across the area. 2019 celebrated 10 years of CDW which made it an extra special event and to show our admiration we've gathered our most memerable moments from our time at the festival...
We've been busy working on a co-working space ~
The home to our current project is none other than the infamous Moseley School of Art which opened in 1901 and boasts an alumni including Pop Art co-founder Peter Phillips, UB40 singer Ali Campbell and Fleetwood Mac's Christine McVie. The building is undergoing an incredible transformation into Birmingham's newest community centre and business hub, including a co-working space, entrance and office designed by the TEK team. Have a sneak peak...
We swooned over an underwater restaurant ~
You heard it right ~ 'Under' is a beautiful restaurant that just also happens to be underwater and it definitely looks as amazing as it sounds! The space plunges from the shoreline of remote village of Båly, Norway and is designed by Snøhetta to resemble a sunken periscope. The 495-square-metre restaurant offers an un-missable view of marine life for 40 guests and impressively will also be used as a marine research centre...
We delved into the world of co-working ~
On the subject of co-working and in light of our current #TEKinteriors project we are working on, we have been delving into the wonderful world of co-working. In a well designed co-working space, your usual day at work can begin to feel more like a social movement, opening the door to endless inspiration. We have already gathered together our top ten co-working spaces for creatives, world wide ~ in no particular order...
Birmingham Design Festival ~ 6th - 8th June 2019
Our very own home town of Birmingham recently put on an exciting design festival for the second year running for it's vibrant creative scene. Dozens of talks, workshops, screening and exhibitions invited the local community and beyond to immerse theirselves for four days.
Daylesford Farm ~ take time out
We visited the oh-so-beautiful Daylesford Organic Farm to break our routine and get the creativity flowing. The Daylesford story began 40 years ago when the family turned their farm into an organic sustainable farm, making it the first in Staffordshire and the Cotswolds ~ we suggest you go read our journal entry and add it to your list to visit.
